The 17 year-old has committed to Cornell University for 2009-10. With 22 months to go until he begins his freshman year, D’Agostino is confident he’s committed to the right school.“Cornell seemed like the best fit for me. They have two national championships to show for it, and in recent years have competed with the nation’s best.”While some grade 12 students don’t even know what they’re doing next weekend, Nick D’Agostino has his near future all figured out. The 17 year-old has committed to Cornell University for 2009-10. With 22 months to go until he begins his freshman year, D’Agostino is confident he’s committed to the right school.“ The school boasts alumni such as Ken Dryden and Joe Niewendyk, and although the hockey program has a proud history in the NCAA, Cornell is best known for its academics. D’Agostino isn’t scared of his textbooks. He has maintained an average of over 90% throughout high school, even while putting together some impressive seasons on the ice.
“Working with them in the future will undoubtedly improve my skills as a hockey player. But just as important as that hockey program is Cornell's academic reputation, which was very attractive. Cornell offers a first class Ivy-League education which will prepare me well for the future. I’m extremely happy with my decision to play for Cornell.”
When he finally gets there, D’Agostino will be ready. He has been a member of Varsity’s Elite Summer Training Program since 2006.
“Varsity's Off Ice Summer Program has been such a big part of my success as a hockey player. Working with Geoff on a daily basis in the summer allowed me to become physically ready to take the next steps as a hockey player.”
With so many NCAA, OHL and professional players training alongside D’Agostino for the past two years, the native of Bolton, ON knows that the program will ensure he is ready for Cornell when the 2009-10 season rolls around.
“The staff at Varstiy provided me with the encouragement and the drive to push myself in ways I never thought I could have. There is no doubt about it that training with Varsity has helped me drastically improve and get to the point where I am at today. I owe a big part of my success to Lucky, Geoff, and Varsity Hockey.”
